Bilateral relations

Albania and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on September 5, 1979. Since then, the two countries have maintained friendly bilateral relations, although the level of economic and political interaction between them has been limited. Both countries have non-resident Ambassadors. The Albanian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey is accredited to Pakistan, while the Pakistan Embassy in Rome, Italy is accredited to Albania.

The two countries have had cordial political relations, and both countries have supported each other on various international forums.

Trade between Albania and Pakistan is limited, with bilateral trade. The major items of trade between the two countries include textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products.

Albania and Pakistan have exchanged cultural delegations in the past, with the aim of promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. Bilateral relations between Albania and Pakistan can be further enhanced in areas such as trade, investment and tourism. There is also scope for collaboration in the field of education and exchange of digital skills

Albania is the only European country member of the Organisation of Islamic States, and attends OIC conferences including ones held in Pakistan.
